Stay: Tent setup Day’s focus: Ponds and Ausangate Peak

Trip starts with pickup at your place. Guide arrives with van, we drive south from Cusco on Inter Oceanica road to Tinki, that’s 3 hours drive. Quick pause there to look around this spot before trail start.

Then drive 40 more minutes to Pacchanta, meet cook, horse handler, helper. Last chance to sort gear. Trail goes up slow amid nice views, after 2 hours reach Azulqocha pond, its blue tones catch eyes of all who pass, take in sights with Ausangate behind, first meal spot with good views.

Then hike one hour to Pachispata at 4620m / 15,157ft for camp. Team pitches tents, rest time.

Hike today starts slow up to Anantapata. Trail meets local families, see how they live remote, care for llamas, alpacas. Trail passes Pucachocha pass side, good view of Alccatauri valley, after three hours reach Anantapata for midday meal, enjoy filling food to boost for next three hours.

After meal, bit time to look around, take photos; then up to Warmisaya Pass (5,100 m/16,732 ft), trail rises slow with valley views, Inca peak behind. At top, another sight of Colorful Hill.
